ON TOP- Crystal McGrath
Crystal McGrath is a Country recording artist and songwriter from Calgary, Alberta. In September 2019, she released the Room to Breathe EP. “This EP is a collection of songs, some are fictional stories whereas others are about the experiences and growth I have gone through over the past 10 years,” says McGrath. “The songs are synthesis of my favourite influences including Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood, Serena Ryder and KT Tunstall.”
She is currently promoting the lead title-track single "Room to Breathe" with live shows, a video and online promotion. In 2020, Crystal will begin releasing follow-up singles and supporting with a Canadian tour.
The release of the EP included a sold-out release party and extended feature on the “Made in Alberta” radio show (Sun Country 97.7) which included an interview and spins of the three focus tracks: “Room to Breathe”; “Harsh light of the day”; “One World”.
The title track “Room to Breathe” was written with regular collaborators Craig McIvor and Darren Gilbert, around the idea of escaping chaotic city life and the grind of routine and making space for oneself and reconnecting to their values. The video was filmed at the EP release party and shared online.
No stranger to the stage, Crystal has performed all around the world including gigs in Canada, USA, Mexico, UK, and Australia. She has shared the stage with Canadian Country heavyweights George Canyon and Aaron Pritchett to name a few.
In November 2019, Crystal was invited to participate in Canada’s Music Incubator’s Artist Entrepreneur West professional development program where she spent five-weeks developing her business.
